Car Parking

The West Cliff Theatre car park is situated to the left hand side of the theatre with the entrance in Freeland Road.

Theatre patrons may park for FREE for the duration of an evening or matinee performance but it may become full quickly especially during daytime when the public are able to use the car park in return for a nominal charge.

Access

To avoid possible disappointment patrons with special needs are advised to contact the Box Office to book in advance as wheelchair spaces are limited. Unfortunately, wheelchair spaces cannot be booked online.

Please state any requirements you may have regarding your visit when booking, as theatre staff are always happy to assist.

Wheelchair Spaces

Please inform the Box Office if you are using a wheelchair or electric scooter. Scooters take up more space than a standard wheelchair so it is vital we know this when booking out the space. Please Note: It is not always possible for us to store Large Mobility Scooters inside the building. We will always try to accommodate them, but cannot guarantee this.

Walking frames or aids will be stored in the foyer during the performance. Please ask a member of staff for assistance during the show should you need it.

A Seating plan of our theatre can be downloaded by clicking HERE. When booking your tickets online, you will be able to choose the seats that you sit in. We have a Seating Capacity of just under 600 Seats.

Photography & Recording Devices

The use of flash photography, mobile and recording equipment is strictly prohibited in the auditorium. Please switch off your mobile phone during performances.

Alcohol Consumption and Acceptable Behaviour

We reserve the right to refuse admission or ask you to leave for behaviour we feel is likely to risk the safety of your fellow audience members, affect the enjoyment and/or running of the performance. This includes ticket holders being under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and is acting aggressively. NO REFUNDS will be given in these circumstances. Only alcohol purchased from our Stage Door Bar can be consumed on the premises. Please ask a member of staff for a plastic tumbler if you wish to consume your drink in the auditorium.

Additional Security

Bag searches may be in place at certain performances. These are for your safety and are a condition of entry.

Latecomers

Latecomers will be seated at a suitable point in the performance which will be designated by the visiting production company.

Special Effects

Some shows may contain strobe lighting or smoke effects. Please ask the Duty Manager in the foyer for more information.

Children & Babes in Arms

Children under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied by an adult. For certain shows, babes in arms under the age of 18 months are welcome free of charge and may share a seat with you. For some performances, we regret children under 18 months are not admitted to the auditorium. Baby changing facilities are available in the accessible toilet. Prams and buggies are not permitted inside the auditorium for safety reasons.

Groups

Ice creams and interval drinks may be ordered in advance if bringing a group.

Stage Door Bar

The Stage Door Bar is fully licensed and opens one hour before performances, during the interval and after the show for one hour including drinking up time for ticket holders only.

Please be advised: Only food & drink purchased on the premises may be consumed in the stage door bar.

No Smoking Policy

We operate a No Smoking Policy throughout our building. This Policy includes the smoking of Electronic Cigarettes and Vaping.

The West Cliff Theatre is located on the corner of Tower Road and Freeland Road, a short walk from the sea front, a 5 minute walk from the town centre, and close to both Clacton Hospital and Clacton Police Station.
